Help Bring Back Great Memories — One Community at a Time

Imagine spending an hour making a room full of seniors smile, laugh, sing along, and remember some of the best moments of their lives.

Fred's Time Machine is looking for volunteer presenters across the country to bring our interactive nostalgia programs to assisted living, independent living, senior living, and memory care communities in their own local area.

  • You don't have to be a professional speaker.
  • You don't have to create the presentation.
  • You just need to enjoy people, have a little personality, and want to make a difference.

What Is Fred's Time Machine?

Fred's Time Machine takes seniors on an entertaining trip back through the 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s using:

  • Music they remember
  • Television shows they loved
  • Famous people and historic moments
  • Cars, fashions, products, toys, and advertisements
  • Trivia and audience participation
  • Stories that bring forgotten memories back to life

These are not lectures.

They are interactive experiences designed to get people talking, laughing, remembering, and participating.

What Would I Do as a Volunteer?

As a Fred's Time Machine Volunteer Presenter, you would visit senior communities near where you live and present one of our prepared Time Machine programs.

You might volunteer once or twice a week, a few times a month, or whatever works with your schedule.

Fred's Time Machine provides the program materials and helps you learn how to present them.

Your job is to bring the presentation to life.

Who Are We Looking For?

You may be a great Fred's Time Machine volunteer if you:

  • Enjoy talking with older adults
  • Like music, history, television, or nostalgia
  • Are comfortable speaking in front of a small group
  • Have a positive, outgoing personality
  • Want to do something meaningful in your community
  • Have a few hours each month you would enjoy giving back

Retirees are especially welcome.

This can be a wonderful way to stay active, meet new people, have fun, and make a genuine difference.

You May Be Surprised by What Happens

A familiar song starts playing.

Someone begins singing.

Another resident remembers the car they drove on their first date.

Someone else suddenly remembers a television show they haven't thought about in 60 years.

Then the stories start.

That is what Fred's Time Machine is all about.

Sometimes all it takes is one picture, one song, or one question to unlock a wonderful memory.

We Want to Build a Nationwide Network

Fred's Time Machine started with presentations to senior communities in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Now we want to take it much further.

Our goal is to create a network of volunteer presenters in communities throughout the United States — people who can bring these programs directly to seniors where they live.

You could become the Fred's Time Machine presenter in your community.

Interested?

There is no obligation. Tell us a little about yourself, where you live, and why you might enjoy becoming a Fred's Time Machine volunteer. We'll contact you, explain how the program works, and answer your questions.
